'Good for you': Elizabeth Olsen expresses support for Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit vs Disney
Elizabeth Olsen has expressed support for her Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney.
Johansson has sued Disney over the way it handled the release of her film Black Widow, claiming the company breached her contract by releasing it on Disney+ the same time it was released in theaters.
Wandavision star Olsen, in a joint Vanity Fair interview with actor Jason Sudeikis, voiced her support.
“I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett,'” Olsen said.
Sudeikis also voiced his support for Johansson’s fight against Disney saying “It is appropriately bad-ass and on brand.”
When Black Widow reaches certain box office performance figures, Johansson earns bonuses and her team claims in the lawsuit that Disney forfeited the movie’s box office potential to grow its streaming service.
Disney, however, has denied Johansson’s claims.
“Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date,” a company statement read.
The case is now pending before a Los Angeles court. (Paulina Romarate)
