Mic hurled by Cardi B is up for auction on eBay for charity
The mic Cardi B threw on stage is now up for grabs, and the proceeds will be donated to a charity in Las Vegas, USA.
In case you missed it, the WAP singer made headlines the past week after throwing a mic at an audience member who splashed a drink at her mid-performance of Bodak Yellow. The concertgoer has filed a police report against the rapper for battery.
Speaking to NBC affiliate KNTV News, Scott Fisher, the owner of the company that provided the microphone for the American rapper’s show at Drais Beach Club, has decided to turn the unfortunate incident into something good by selling the mic on eBay to raise funds for charity.
"I decided I'll just sell it and maybe try to raise money for charities. So that's why I decided, okay, I picked two charities to try to help out,” he said.
Fisher has been providing microphones for musicians in the past. Highlighting his regard for his business, he wasn’t amused about what Cardi B did to his property, raising concerns about its potential impact on his income.
“She treated my property like junk, and even if she wrote me a check right then and there, it still could impact my income,” he said.
He initially thought that the mic was broken, and after knowing that it still works upon retrieval, he decided to sell it to help a children’s and veteran’s charity in Las Vegas.
“Fortunately, I'm in a position to be able to do this,” he said.
As of writing, the mic, a Shure Axient digital piece, has 44 bids and is at $50,100 (nearly P3 million). The bidding is set to conclude on Monday, Aug. 7 (US Time).
