James Reid drops new music video for 'lie to me'
No, we're not lying to you when we say that James Reid has officially released his new music video for his song lie to me.
Shot in Manila last September, the music video narrates how James and Destiny's hearts were both captured by the same girl! The story concludes in a plot twist, with Destiny, who recently came out publicly as bisexual, wins the girl in the end.
Described as a "slow R&B song that expresses the hurting acceptance of how two individuals feel for the same person," lie to me is the seventh track on James' lovescene:, his second and newest studio album following Palm Dreams.
The tracks focus on James getting honest, close, and personal as he explores the life and death cycle of romance. lie to me, in particular, shows the slow burning and bittersweet death of a romance and even hints at an attempt to move on despite it all.
The song features the talented vocals of American singer and songwriter Destiny Rogers. The two artists first crossed paths when James visited the studio of production and songwriting team The Stereotypes, who Destiny also worked with, in Los Angeles last January 2020.
James eventually asked her if she was willing to collaborate with him on a song when he returned to LA two years later. Destiny agreed and they finished working on lie to me together, and according to James, "[Destiny’s] vocals really brought the song to a whole other level."
lovescene: was released on all major streaming platforms last October and collectively has over two million streams to date.
