Tamayo Perry's widow on the actor's death by shark attack: 'I feel so upset and devastated'
The wife of Pirates of the Caribbean star Tamayo Perry has spoken out on the death of her husband, who was killed in a shark attack earlier this week.
"I feel so upset and devastated," Emilia Perry tearfully said in an ABC News interview shared by Good Morning America. "But I also have a weird calmness in my heart knowing that he's in a better place."
"It was like I went on the best 25-year vacation of my life with him, and now it's over. Now, I gotta come back to reality," she continued.
Tamayo, 49, died on Sunday, June 23 at Malaekahana Beach in Hawaii after being attacked by a shark.
According to a report by ABC News, the actor's friend and colleague Jesse King said that the former was "extremely" familiar with the area as he loved surfing there on Sundays. "There was nothing out of the ordinary that would indicate that something bad would happen to him versus anybody else," he said, noting it "was a regular day."
Tamayo played a buccaneer in the fourth installment of the popular swashbuckling franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
He also appeared in the reboot of Hawaii Five-O and in cult TV series Lost, which was largely filmed on the US archipelago, as well as in the 2002 surf movie Blue Crush. (with reports from AFP)
