Lino Cayetano is new PTV-4 General Manager
An ex-politician is taking over as head of the state media.
On June 3, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new General Manager of People’s Television Network Inc.
He replaces Malou Choa-Fagar, who has been the acting general manager of the network since August 2025.
Lino is best known as the youngest brother of senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano.
Just like his siblings, he served in the political scene as Taguig 2nd district representative from 2013 to 2016 before becoming Taguig City mayor from 2019 to 2022.
He had a fallout with Alan Peter and backed his brother's call for top officials to resign amid the flood control scandal.
“Give up power. And this movement for real transformation will be a legacy our Father will be truly proud of. Let’s lead. The Senate will function without the Cayetanos while Taguig has a very capable Vice Mayor and the Cayetano political party has had 15 years to run Taguig City and institute reform. Matibay na dapat ito,” he said.
Before entering politics, Lino was a director and creative consultant for more than years at ABS-CBN.
He is also a co-founder, producer, and director of Rein Entertainment.
Cayetano earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of the Philippines and obtained a Diploma in Film from the New York Film Academy in 1999.
“I am happy to announce that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new General Manager of PTV 4,” Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said in a statement.
“Former Mayor Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, private, and the public sectors that would certainly take PTV-4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multimedia landscape,” he added.
