Gerald Anderson has been promoted to auxiliary captain in Philippine Coast Guard.

The actor announced his milestone in an Instagram post on Thursday, Nov. 14, saying that he's "deeply honored and humbled" by it.

"Salamat Senator Robin Padilla for passing the [r]esolution for this promotion," he said. "Napakalaking bagay para sa akin ang iyong paghanga sa aking nagawa. Gagamitin ko ito para lalong ma-inspire ang ating kabataan."

He also expressed his gratitude to the PCG and his support system. "Salamat sa aking Philippine Coast Guard [f]amliy sa promotion na ito at sa walang sawang supporta sa aking mga endeavors. Sa family and friends ko, salamat sa pagpunta and support," he continued.

Spotted at the oath-taking ceremony were his girlfriend, actress Julia Barretto and her mother Marjorie. Gerald's dad, Gerald Randolph Anderson Sr. was also present at the event.

Anderson has been an active member of the PCG since 2016 and is part of the K9 Squadron, which Barretto has been a part of since 2021.

In August, the PCG gave him a Search and Rescue Medal for his "heroic acts" when the southwest monsoon or habagat and Typhoon Carina brought heavy rains and flooded several areas in the country last July.
