Geneva Cruz finishes college after 33 years: 'It's never too late'
Geneva Cruz finally earned her college degree after 33 years.
The actress took to Instagram on Friday, March 13, to share her latest milestone.
"As I approach my golden age in less than a month, I realize that some of my dreams are still coming true. Thirty-three years in the making, but I finally did it! Look, ma, I’m now a college graduate!!!" she wrote.
Cruz said she dedicates her latest win to her 19-year-old self, who had to "grow up fast and work hard after choosing to become a young mom."
"Thank you for being brave and for finally learning to love yourself," she concluded.
In 2024, the actress shared that she decided to return to college to finish her degree in business administration at the Philippine Christian University after previously dropping out.
She previously took up AB General/Lit at the University of Santo Tomas, but had to drop out after becoming a mother to her firstborn, Heaven Arespacochaga.
She added that one of the reasons she decided to return to college and finish her degree was to be an example for her daughter, London, whom she shares with her former partner, Lee Paulsen.
"I strongly believe in setting a positive example for my children, which drives me to dedicate time to pursuing my educational goals," Geneva wrote. "My favorite quote has always been, 'If there's a will, there's a way,' and it's true. You can always find time to prioritize and pursue what is important to you if you really want to."
"I live to grow because there's no age or judgment in personal growth as long as you keep pushing forward to finish what you start. Go after your goals—there's no such thing as being too late!" she continued.
Fans and her celebrity friends sent their congratulatory messages in the post's comments.
"Galing gen!" TV host Kim Atienza wrote.
"Congratulations girl," Vina Morales commented.
"Yahoo!! Congratulations Gen!!!" her cousin, actress Sunshine Cruz, also wrote.
Before finishing her degree, Cruz completed the Special Basic Citizen Military Training of the Philippine Air Force in 2022 and became a PAF reservist.
