Tom Holland had asked for permission from Zendaya's father before he popped the question, the Spider-Man actor's dad revealed.

Dominic Holland took to Patreon to share details about the engagement, highlighting the contrast in his approach to proposing marriage compared to Tom's.

"Tom, as you know by now was very incredibly well-prepared," he said in a blog post. "He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter."

Dominic said he was "woefully ill-prepared" when he popped the question to his wife Nikki during a trip to Amsterdam without a ring.

He then lauded Tom and Zendaya's ability to handle having their relationship in the limelight.

"And even though show business is a messy place for relationships and particularly so for famous couples as they crash and burn in public and are too numerous to mention, with us an example, with Nikki helming this family and my ‘wisdom’ on tap and a study in getting things mostly wrong and yet somehow right at the same time, I am completely confident they will make a successful union," Dominic wrote.

Tom and Zendaya were reported to be engaged on Jan. 6. Sources close to the couple said the actor popped the question over the holidays.

Engagement rumors sparked when Zendaya was seen wearing a diamond ring on her finger at the recent Golden Globes.

The two met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016 and were rumored to be dating in 2017. Their relationship was confirmed four years later after they got spotted getting cozy during a vacation in July 2021.

In 2022, a source told entertainment outlets that Tom and Zendaya were "both in settling-down mode and are absolutely planning for a real future together."
