Palace announces Nov. 16 to 18 as special non-working days for ASEAN Summit

The Malacañang Palace has declared Nov. 16-18 as special non-working days in the National Capital Region for the 49th ASEAN Summit.

Under Proclamation No. 1447, signed on Sept. 17 and released on Sept. 22, acting executive secretary Ralph Recto said that the declaration aims to "alleviate traffic" and to allow the Philippines, the host country for this year's ASEAN Summit, to ensure the safety of all the participants of the event.

“In order to alleviate traffic and to allow the host country to secure the safety of participants in the said event, it is necessary to declare 16-18 November 2026 as special (non-working) days in the National Capital Region,” the proclamation read.

The Philippines is serving as the host and Chair of ASEAN for 2026, bringing together leaders from 11 member nations and international partners.

The Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City will serve as the main venue, while other events will be held at the newly-renovated Coconut Palace.
