'Physical: Welcome to Mongolia': Teams Korea and Mongolia return for spinoff series this December
Do you miss seeing Physical: Asia's Teams Korea and Mongolia on your screens? Well, good news: the show is heading to Mongolia!
A spin-off is happening this December on Netflix featuring the top Korean and Mongolian players who competed in the finals of Physical: Asia.
According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the streaming platform confirmed that Physical: Welcome to Mongolia will be a four-episode spin-off, set to release on Dec. 24 and 31.
It will reunite the members of the Korean and Mongolian teams, including Korea’s team captain Kim Dong-hyun, Amotti, and Mongolia’s fan-favorite duo Orkhonbayar Bayarsaikhan and Erdene-Ochiriin Lkhagva-Ochir.
The series will offer an authentic, local-style Mongolian journey, where Team Mongolia tours their friendly opponents to local attractions and eateries. Furthermore, Ochir, a 'Cirque du Soleil' member and actor, will prepare a homemade Mongolian family meal for his friends. The series also promises a special guest, building anticipation for the cast.
It will premiere its first two episodes on Dec. 24, while episodes 3 and 4 will be available on Dec. 31 on Netflix.
Following reports, the streaming platform released a teaser showing Dong-hyun and Amotti on a video call with Ochir where he hints at upcoming activities.
“Orkhonbayar has planned something amazing. We can ride horses and shoot arrows,” Dong-hyun said.
Hyun and Amotti also shared their thoughts on the upcoming show
“Let’s stay up all 24 hours, we can sleep next year,” they added.
Unlike Physical: 100, which has had two seasons (2023 and 2024) where 100 contestants went head-to-head in individual challenges, Physical: Asia champions team effort. Teams of six members each from eight countries will be competing.
Team Philippines consisted of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, national team sambo athlete Mark Mugen, strongman Ray Jefferson Querubin, national team rugby player Justin Coveney, national team hurdler Robyn Lauren Brown, and CrossFit athlete Lara Lorraine Deang Liwanag.
In the end, Team Korea claimed the championship over Team Mongolia in the ‘Final Quest.’
