Woman alleges she was sexually assaulted while asleep on flight with daughter
A Thai woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a fellow passenger while she and her four-year-old daughter were asleep on a flight from Dubai to Bangkok.
According to News.com.au, Beaut Pimpaporn, 33, was traveling aboard a Flydubai flight when she woke up to find the Pakistani man seated next to her allegedly touching her backside while touching himself.
Pimpaporn said she chose not to confront the passenger immediately to avoid causing a disturbance and because she was concerned for her daughter's safety. Instead, she reported the incident to the cabin crew after the plane landed in Bangkok.
"At first, he denied it, but eventually he admitted what happened," she claimed. "After that, he came to me, cried, knelt down and begged for forgiveness. He kept saying he was sorry and that he would not do it again."
Pimpaporn said several people traveling with the man also tried to intervene.
"They [his friends] asked me to let him go and forgive him, but the flight attendant told those who were not involved to leave because this was a police matter," she said.
According to Pimpaporn, her daughter was also taken away from the scene by the crew so she would not witness the incident.
Tourist police and immigration officers detained the suspect upon arrival in Bangkok. Authorities said he was denied entry into Thailand and that the investigation remains ongoing. No charges have been announced.
A Flydubai spokesperson told the Daily Mail the safety of its passengers and crew remains its top priority but declined to comment further because of the ongoing investigation.
Pimpaporn later shared her experience publicly to encourage other women to speak up if they experience harassment while traveling.
"Passengers are often sleeping during long flights, and women travelling alone can be vulnerable," she said. "I want other women to know that they should not feel embarrassed. If something feels wrong, they should report it and ask for help. I decided to tell my story because I do not want anyone else to experience what I experienced."
