Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has ordered the disbandment of Task Force Disiplina after three teens were killed at the hands of one of their enforcers, who was intoxicated at the time.

In a statement, the local government announced that Task Force Disiplina is dissolved effective Tuesday, Oct. 13.

All of its members are ordered to immediately return to and report to the Department of Public Order and Safety, their mother unit.

Before they can remain members of the DPOS, however, each individual must pass a strict background check, neuropsychological examination, and drug test, and submit an NBI clearance and police clearance.

The local government stressed that no one will be exempt from this screening process.

Meanwhile, Belmonte has directed the Quezon City Police District to immediately intensify its campaign against illegal firearms.

They implored the public to call Helpline 122 immediately if they see uniformed Task Force Disiplina members continuing to patrol their barangays. They are also urged to report any information about civilians carrying or concealing suspected illegal firearms.

Three teenagers were killed on Monday by a drunk member of the Task Force Disiplina after they had reportedly violated the city’s curfew ordinance. The suspect, identified as 38 years old, has now been dismissed from service and has been arrested.

Task Force Disiplina was formed to ensure the implementation of ordinances and rules and regulations in Quezon City.
