Robin Padilla reacts to Angel Locsin's remarks: 'Baka may pinagdadaanan'

Robin Padilla has broken his silence after Angel Locsin called him out for being silent on red-tagging, saying he believes she may be going through something.

Padilla made the remark during his appearance on the "Vox Populi" segment of SMNI News. 

“Si Angel Locsin, kaibigan ko ‘yan. Ang katotohanan ay sa 'ming dalawang mag-asawa [ni Mariel Padilla], nung nabalitaan namin ‘yun, isa lang ang sinabi namin dalawa. ‘Ah baka may pinagdadaanan si Angel. Kami naman wala, so siguro intindihin na lang natin, wag na kaming sumagot [o] magsalita,'" he said.

“Kung gusto niya kaming makausap, bukas naman 'yung linya," he added.

Padilla said he and Locsin developed a close friendship through martial arts, and that he had told her about his leftist beliefs.

“Naging very close kami ni Angel kasi nag-aaral siya ng martial arts. Siyempre, nagku-kwentuhan kami at noong panahon na ‘yon ay Gabriela siya. So, sinasabi ko sa kanya na leftist ako—kasi wala namang masama kung leftist ka. Ang masama ay kung ikaw ay may dalang baril," he said.

In the same interview, Padilla also recalled going into hiding in the Bicol Region for 45 days in 1995 while he was wanted by authorities over an illegal possession of firearms case. Padilla claimed that was when he was introduced to the New People's Army. He said he later left the group over disagreements with its methods, citing its collection of "revolutionary taxes." Despite leaving, he said he still holds on to its ideology to this day.

“Hindi ko iniiwan ang ideology, kahit magalit kayong lahat, mga kabigan ko, pasensya na kayo," he noted.
