Bea Alonzo and Vincent Co kept their civil wedding wonderfully low-key—from their outfits and glam down to their minimalist cake. If you’ve been eyeing that simple, elegant cake, we found out it actually came from Wadoughs.

"We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the cake was actually ordered for THE wedding," Wadoughs told PhilSTAR L!fe.

"It was placed as a regular cake order, just like the other orders we received that day, and no details about the event were shared with us," they continued.

According to Wadoughs, the 8"x4" signature minimalist cake has layers of red velvet, vanilla, and chocolate cake with tablea ganache filling, and finished with smooth buttercream icing.

Priced at P3,000, the cake can be customized with classic flavors such as chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, or mocha. Premium flavors like strawberry and ube are also available for an additional P200.

Wadoughs, founded by scriptwriter-turned-baker Wado Siman, is known for its minimalist cake designs. In a previous interview, Siman told L!fe that it saved the Maginhawa bakery from closing during the pandemic.

"The minimalist cakes were business-changing. It totally changed the direction for Wadough's kasi it was a time when it was very difficult for everyone, and to be honest, we were almost at the edge na nung time na 'yun," he recounted.

Since then, customers and even celebrities have enjoyed his sweets during special moments, including Andrea Brillantes, Moira Dela Torre, Hidilyn Diaz, Melai Cantiveros, and more.

When asked what the experience is like to be able to serve famous faces in the country, the baker said, "'Just seeing them support a business like mine, parang masarap siya sa puso."

"Ako naman, kahit sino naman yan, celebrity or non-celebrity, parang it gives the same feeling of fulfillment kapag nakikita mo na they appreciate your food," he highlighted.
