The Department of Transportation, in partnership with other government agencies, are offering free rides on Wednesday, July 22.

In a Facebook post, DOTr said this is in response to the President's directive to ensure safe rides for commuters amid transport strikes in some areas.

The free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Routes include Welcome Rotonda-Fairview; Recto-Cubao via Nagtahan; Quiapo-Cubao via E. Rodriguez; Quiapo-Fairview; Kalentong-Pasig Palengke; and PITX-Lawton and vice versa.

Partner agencies in the initiative include Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Energy, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development, and Department of Labor and Employment.

The Philippine STAR reported that transport group Manibela held its two-day strike today, July 22, to protest fuel price hikes and demand a P2 minimum fare increase for jeepneys. The protest was staged at PHILCOA in Quezon City, which began at 7 a.m.
