SSS set to roll out 10% pension increase for retirees, 5% increase for member survivors this 2026
The Social Security System has announced a 10% increase in retirement and disability pensions, as well as a 5% increase for death and survivor pensioners, by September 2026.
Even better, there will be no contribution increase, according to SSS.
In a press conference held on Thursday, Feb. 26, with Finance secretary and chairperson of the Social Security Commission Frederick D. Go in attendance, SSS said the increases are possible as the government's social insurance program has hit over P1 trillion in reserve funds.
This development is part of SSS' historic three-year Pension Reform Program, which began in September 2025. According to SSS' report on its key achievements in 2025, the program was one of the agency's big wins last year.
SSS further said there will be annual pension increases for all 3.8 million pensioners every September from 2025 to 2027.
Pensioners as of Aug. 31, 2026 are eligible for the Sept. 2026 increase. Likewise, the September 2027 increase is applicable for pensioners as of Aug. 31, 2027.
After three years, by SSS' calculation, pensions will have grown to approximately 33% for retirement and disability pensioners and 16% for death and survivor pensioners.
SSS reports the reform covers 2.6 million retirement/disability pensioners and 1.2 million survivor pensioners. Further, the agency projects it will inject P92.8 billion into the economy for the duration of the program.
