Planning a trip to Vietnam? A pre-arrival health form issued by the Ministry of Health is mandatory for all travelers starting July 1.

The new public health declaration applies to everyone crossing the border—regardless of nationality, visa type, or mode of travel. This includes foreign tourists, Vietnamese citizens departing the country, and transit passengers arriving via airports, land borders, or seaports.

The measure is mandated under Decree 165/2026/ND-CP and the Law on Disease Prevention, per the country's official news site. Authorities said providing accurate information can help facilitate a smoother entry process, while personal data collected through the form will be kept confidential and used only for border control purposes.

The new public health declaration form must be completed within seven days before entering and leaving Vietnam.

Available in both English and Vietnamese, the standardized form must be completed within seven days of entering or leaving Vietnam. Travelers can submit their declarations either electronically or via a physical paper form.

Since no official online submission link has been announced as of this writing, travelers may complete the health declaration form upon arrival. However, be sure to check whether the online submission system becomes available before your trip, as completing the form in advance may help ensure a smoother arrival process.

Additionally, authorities may also ask for vaccination certificates or other health-related documents as part of disease control measures, so keep them within easy reach during your trip.

The Ministry of Health may also issue additional health declaration requirements at border gates in the event of an infectious disease outbreak, depending on the public health situation.

It is crucial for travelers not to confuse this new requirement with Vietnam's Digital Arrival Card, which launched in April.

The Digital Arrival Card applies to all international passengers who do not hold a Vietnamese passport. Travelers must provide their passport details, flight information, accommodation address, and purpose of visit. After submission, a QR code is generated and must be presented to immigration authorities upon entry. The declaration may be completed upon arrival or up to three days before entering Vietnam.
