Bar.Flora’s new gin cocktail menu features drinks inspired by women around the world
Are you a girls' girl? Because Bar.Flora definitely is.
Their new menu, "Volume IV: Gin and Girls You Meet on Vacation," is a literal love letter to those women you meet at a bar, vibe with for one night, and remember forever. The 12-drink lineup is built around women imagined in different cities, with each cocktail anchored by a gin from a particular country and ingredients chosen to match the character.
Located along Scout Rallos in Quezon City, Bar.Flora is known for its rotating, theme-driven menus. Instead of a permanent cocktail list, the bar releases menus in volumes, often built around a central concept expressed through spirits, ingredients, and presentation.
Volume IV places gin at the center, showcasing labels from different countries paired with ingredients that range from familiar to unconventional.
A menu built on gin and character
Among the 12 cocktails, several stand out for their unusual combinations and presentation. Meilin is one of the menu’s more savory drinks. Made with Chinese gin, it combines hojicha milk, dashi, ginger-shiitake syrup, and black vinegar, resulting in a profile that leans into umami with a subtle sweetness underneath.
and lemon granita.
Mikita is made with Roku Gin, sakura vermouth, matcha foam, and soda, combining ingredients that are frequently found in Japanese-inspired cocktails.
Lucia takes a brighter approach. Luxardo Dry Gin is mixed with limoncello, citrus, prosecco, lemon granita, and lemon-pineapple powder, producing a sparkling, citrus-forward cocktail.
Angel, the menu’s nod to the Philippines, is built with Archangel Premium Dry Reserve Gin, coconut-infused vermouth, sesame-banana, ube halaya, and pomelo-calamansi. It is served as three separate shots, allowing drinkers to experience the components individually.
Mary, described as a rodeo cowgirl from the United States, uses St. George Botanivore Gin, a California gin distilled with 19 botanicals. Rose, orange blossom, berries, flavored syrup, and cream come together in a drink that is sweet, floral, and creamy, leaning toward dessert-like territory.
Valentina, meanwhile, is presented as a beach-loving partygoer from Mexico. Built on Gin de las Californias, the highball combines hibiscus tea, cucumber, mint, agave, and spice, resulting in a cooling, herbaceous drink.
Freyja is perhaps the most unconventional of the bunch. Martin Miller’s Gin is infused with onion and basil, then combined with blue pea, tomato cordial, celery bitters, green apple shimmer syrup, elderflower, and soda water. It is topped with popping candy, adding a textural element to a drink that moves between savory, herbal, and lightly sweet notes.
Taken together, the cocktails span a wide range of styles. Some are crisp and refreshing, while others lean richer, more savory, or closer to dessert. There are playful touches as well, from Angel’s multi-serve presentation to Freyja’s popping candy garnish.
Even without the narrative framing, Volume IV offers a way to explore gins from different countries through combinations that go beyond the usual martini or gin and tonic.
