'Pursuit of Jade' star Zhang Linghe invited to visit Manila
Want to see Pursuit of Jade star Zhang Linghe in the Philippines?
This may soon be a reality, as Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan has invited the Chinese actor to the country.
"People told me that one C-drama named Pursuit of Jade is also very popular here," Jing said during the Award for Promoting Philippines-China Understanding 2026 on June 3.
"We contacted his team, but currently he's kind of a superstar in China. His schedule is very busy, but anyway, we're just talking with him, to try to seek for any chance. Maybe by the end of this year, we can invite him to visit Manila and meet with the fans," he added.
Jing also shared that they have invited actress Zhang Yingfei, beloved for her role in The Heiress Who Won With Brains, to the country. She's set to come to Manila on June 7.
"We arranged with her to meet with some fans here," he said.
Linghe stars as Xie Zheng in Pursuit of Jade. He plays the Marquis of Wuhan, who falls in love with an ordinary girl named Fan Changyu.
The actor has also appeared in Love Between Fairy and Devil, The Princess Royal, My Journey to You, Story of Kunning Palace, and The Best Thing. Additionally, he's been tapped as brand ambassador for several fashion and beauty brands, including Lancôme, Chopard, Gucci, Lee, Bulgari, and more.
Earlier in March, the actor drew ire after his appearance on Hello Saturday, in which the actor joked that actress Tian Xiwei's drawing of him made him look like he was "born in Southeast Asia." Linghe has since apologized, saying he believes "every culture has its own beauty."
"It was never my intention to cause any hurt or be disrespectful," he said.
