Lumpia Queen Abi Marquez serves up Filipino food in jewelry form
Generations podcast host and food content creator Abi Marquez is taking her love for Pinoy food from her homey kitchen to the jewelry scene.
Marquez teamed up with Filipino jewelry brand Gabbie Jewelry to offer a lovely collection featuring 12 charms that reflect her signature food content and the things that are close to her heart. These include a glass, chef's hat, salt, pepper, banana ketchup, knife, calamansi, siomai, rice cooker, lumpia, garlic, and spiced vinegar—all designed “to be collected, mixed, matched, and made personal.”
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, Generations' Gen Z correspondent opened up about what makes the collaboration special to her.
“We’re turning Filipino food into something people can wear, not just eat!” she said with a smile. “Food has always been a huge part of my identity, and I know it’s the same for so many Filipinos. What’s exciting to me is that we’re celebrating things as familiar as lumpia and rice cooker—things we see and enjoy every day, but hold so much meaning because of the memories, traditions, and people we associate them with.”
As a foodie, Marquez shared she has always been into the idea of being loud and proud about the things she loves.
“I love that these charms can become little conversation-starters about our favorite food, where we come from, or even someone we share a special food memory with. It’s a fun, personal way to celebrate our Filipino food culture beyond the kitchen,” she continued.
It goes without saying that the Lumpia Queen’s favorite charm is the lumpia, with the rice cooker coming in second.
“Not only do I owe a lot of my successes as a creator to the humble lumpia, but it has also become my identity. The rice cooker charm is my next personal favorite as a Filipino who eats rice every single day,” she said, expressing her excitement about being able to take them with her wherever she goes.
Marquez is a Webby Award winner, James Beard Award nominee, Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and content creator with millions of followers on social media. She became known for her lumpia content. She also hosts the Generations podcast, which you can find on YouTube and Spotify.
The Abi Marquez Collection by Gabbie Jewelry is now available at gabbiejewelry.com, Shopee, and TikTok Shop, as well as its physical stores at Alabang Town Center, Glorietta 1, and SM North EDSA.
