Alex Eala to face world no. 32 Diane Parry in Ningbo Open
World no. 19 Alex Eala is looking to get back on the winning track as she heads to the 2026 Ningbo Open in China.
The Filipina tennis star is set to compete in the WTA 500 tournament, which runs from Oct. 19 to 25, as she looks to bounce back from an early exit at the Wuhan Open.
While Eala’s match schedule has yet to be announced, she will face France’s Diane Parry in the first round.
Parry, who is ranked world no. 32, previously claimed her first WTA singles title at the Monterrey Open in Mexico in August.
Eala will be hoping for a stronger campaign after a difficult stretch in the Asian swing.
At the Wuhan Open, the 21-year-old Filipina bowed out in the opening round after losing to Chinese qualifier Han Shi, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. She also exited the doubles competition alongside Turkish partner Zeynep Sonmez after falling to Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina and Dayana Yastremska.
Before Wuhan, Eala suffered a round-of-16 loss to Russia’s Tatiana Prozorova at the Singapore Tennis Open. She also claimed a bronze medal in women’s singles at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
