Woman found dead inside refrigerator in Rizal apartment

A woman's dead body was discovered inside a refrigerator at a rented apartment in Rodriguez, Rizal.

The victim was found lifeless on Sept. 16, according to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station.

"Initial information gathered by responding police officers disclosed that the apartment owner went to the premises after being unable to establish contact with the occupant whose contract had already expired," authorities said in a statement. "The owner returned the following day and, still unable to receive any response, became concerned after a witness reportedly noticed a foul and unusual odor emanating from the apartment."

After inspecting the unit, responding personnel found the victim dead inside a refrigerator. "The area was immediately secured and documented, while the Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit was requested to conduct the appropriate crime scene examination and forensic processing," police said.

Police are looking into the victim's live-in partner, who was reportedly the last person seen with her.

According to a report by GMA's 24 Oras, the landlord last spoke with the victim on Sept. 9, when she was accompanied by a man who introduced himself as her live-in partner. The landlord later had difficulty contacting the woman.

Neighbors told authorities that they saw the victim alive on the morning of Sept. 10 when she accepted a delivery. That evening, they reportedly heard a loud crash, which investigators believe may have been caused by the refrigerator falling over.

Police later found a rope at the scene that they believe may have been used in the killing. The refrigerator was also covered with a blanket.

Authorities are now asking the public for help in identifying the female victim, who is "approximately 25 to 30 years old, about 5’2” to 5’3” in height, with fair complexion and medium build." Those who can provide information can reach them at 8633-9263 or 0999-195-5988.
