Juan Ponce Enrile, 101, is still confined in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital, where he is being treated for pneumonia, according to his daughter.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Chief Presidential Legal Counsel's daughter Katrina Ponce Enrile posted a statement on Instagram to provide an update about her father’s condition.

“He is under the dedicated care of his attending physicians and medical staff who are providing him with the best possible treatment and attention,” she wrote.

She then expressed her gratitude for the concern, prayers, and support her family has received so far. She also asked for privacy as they navigate Enrile's illness.

During the Senate plenary session on Tuesday, Nov. 11, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada took to the floor to announce Enrile's condition.

“Juan Ponce Enrile is currently in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital. And I heard from a very, very reliable source that he has slim chances of surviving, and I hope that all of us here present can have a short prayer,” he said.

All the senators stood as Sen. Joel Villanueva, the son of Jesus Is Lord evangelist and congressman Eddie Villanueva, led the prayer.

Enrile served four terms, or 23 years, in the Senate. He was Senate president from 2008 to 2013.
