The footbridge replacing Mr. Kamuning is finally finished!

President Bongbong Marcos inspected the newly built footbridge and busway station in Kamuning on Mar. 5.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, the new footbridge was designed to improve safety and accessibility for commuters. It is now covered and connected to the EDSA Kamuning Busway Station for ease of access.

It features lower stairs and elevators for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and people with difficulty ascending steps. It also has a wheelchair lift.

Marcos said that the footbridge will be properly maintained to ensure safer and more convenient public use.

Meanwhile, in a media interview, he remarked that the old footbridge, dubbed "Mt. Kamuning" for its steep climb, was unstable and impractical. He said it will no longer be open to the public.

“Well, the old one is not very good at all,” he said, while commending the new footbridge, which finished in four months instead of the original six-month timeline.

Mt. Kamuning has long been criticized by commuters and netizens for its height and steepness. It was opened in November 2018, with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority saying that the bridge, which had a P10 million budget for construction, was built to minimize road crashes in the area.

In June 2025, Marcos ordered the removal and replacement of Mt. Kamuning.

In August, DOTr revealed its plans for the new Kamuning footbridge.
