Want to see Alex Eala? Here's how you can catch the tennis star
After a historic run at Wimbledon, Alex Eala is returning home for a special fan homecoming.
"Home Court: The Alex Eala Fan Meet Experience" by Globe will take place on Wednesday, July 15, at the Glorietta Activity Center.
The registration starts at 4 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m.
The telecommunications company said more details on how to secure your access will be announced soon.
Eala's Wimbledon campaign has ended on July 6 after falling to Italy's Jasmine Paolini in her fourth match at the tennis tournament.
The 21-year-old opened her run with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Mexico’s Renata Zarazúa on June 30, becoming the first Filipino player to win a singles main-draw match at the grass-court Grand Slam.
She followed that breakthrough by rallying past Australia’s Maya Joint, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round, earning revenge after losing to Joint at the Lexus Eastbourne Open the previous year.
Eala then delivered the biggest win of her Wimbledon run so far when she won against defending champion and third seed Iga Świątek, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2. The result made her the first Filipino to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam singles event.
She is gearing up for her North American hardcourt swing, kicking off at the WTA 500 Mubadala DC Open in Washington, D.C. this July.
