The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center issued a notice to the public that they are now investigating the alleged blocking of the microblogging and social networking platform Tumblr in the Philippines.

The social media site became a hot topic online after users raised concerns that they were unable to access the platform on March 10.

Upon checking the site as of writing, a browser warning will pop up that reads, "Your connection is not private," warning users that "attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.tumblr.com."

The message typically appears when a website’s security certificate cannot be verified, prompting browsers to block the connection to protect users’ data.

In a statement, CICC stated that they are now aware of the reports and have begun looking into the issue.

"The CICC assures that this matter is being reviewed with priority, and we will provide further updates once the investigation is completed," they said.

Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking platform where users can create and share short-form content such as text posts, photos, GIFs, videos, links, and quotes.

It was launched in 2007 by David Karp and quickly rose to popularity as a hub for fandom culture.
