M1ss Jade So goes on indefinite hiatus from drag after concerning livestream

Drag artist M1ss Jade So is stepping away from all performances and public appearances after a recent livestream sparked widespread concern among fans and the drag community.

In a joint statement, her family and Haus of M1ss Jade So thanked those who reached out with concern, saying that So is "deeply sorry" for the "distress and worry" that she has caused to everyone affected.

“To prioritize her recovery and well-being, Jade will be taking an indefinite hiatus from all drag performances and public appearances. Accordingly, all scheduled shows, bookings, and engagements are cancelled until further notice,” the statement said. 

The drag queen's camp added she is “safe and is currently surrounded by loved ones while receiving the care and support she needs to focus on healing and recovery.”

“Jade also wishes to make one thing clear: she does not hold anyone accountable for her emotional distress or the personal crisis she experienced,” it said, adding that her struggles are “deeply personal and far more complex than any one person or any single event.”

The team described the livestream incident as So being in an "vulnerable and overhelmed state, crying for help." But they appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and to avoid directing hate toward individuals linked to the incident, including fellow drag queens Marina Summers and Eva Le Queen.

"We also hope this difficult moment will not become an opportunity to pit queens against one another or create further division within the drag community. Especially during times like these, we hope everyone will choose empathy over conflict, compassion over judgment, and support over hostility. Let this be a moment to care for one another rather than deepen hurt or fuel unnecessary conflict," the statement addedd.

So's camp also urged social media users to stop sharing videos, screenshots, and recordings from Jade’s livestream as she focuses on her recovery.

They also apologized to event organizers, fellow performers, collaborators, and supporters who had been anticipating her upcoming appearances.

“There will be no further statements at this time. We respectfully ask for your understanding as Jade and her loved ones focus on recovery,” the statement concluded.

So competed in season 2 of Drag Race Philippines. She is also representing the Philippines in the inaugural season of Drag Race Down Under vs. the World, which is set to premiere on July 24.
