Elijah Canlas confirms split with Miles Ocampo: 'I'll always have love for her'
Elijah Canlas confirmed that he and Miles Ocampo have ended their relationship after five years together.
The actor opened up about their split in an interview with Ogie Diaz.
“As much as we've been trying to keep it private, syempre, I'm going through it, pero dahil lumalabas na 'to lahat, I mean it's time for me to say opo, totoo siya, and out of respect for Miles, syempre I'll always have love for her,” he said.
Canlas admitted that the breakup was painful, especially because they had reconciled previously, believing that they had found forever in each other.
“'Yun yung masakit na part about it kasi nga we got back together thinking this is it. But yeah, that's what happens with relationships, binigay namin lahat, we broke up mutually, very amicably, walang hate, at least on my part,” he said.
He added that there was no major conflict between them when they decided to end their relationship.
“Masakit 'yung ganung klase, 'yung mutual, walang problema,” he opened up.
Canlas slammed speculations that a third party caused their split since he was spotted with actress Thea Astley recently. The latter has also denied accusations that she had something to do with their breakup.
“Dami naming pinagdaanan, at ang hirap i-minimize 'yun sa breakup na ganito dahil sa speculation ng mga 'yan. No, it's much more than that. Kaming dalawa lang makakaalam, sana respetuhin ng mga tao 'yun,” he said. “Go easy on Miles, go easy on me.”
Canlas said that while he and Ocampo ended their relationship amicably, they're not back to being friends yet.
“Syempre we were together for five years; it's not easy to just jump back into friends like that,” he continued. “It's been a couple months pa lang, it's been very fresh. I mean yeah I'd be open to it, the love will always be there.”
Canlas and Ocampo started dating in 2021 after working on a series together. They confirmed their relationship in 2022 and briefly separated in November 2023 before reconnecting months later.
