Jake Cuenca has set the record straight about his relationship status with Chie Filomeno after they sparked breakup rumors online.

In an interview with the media shared by ABS-CBN News, the actor confirmed that he and Filomeno have ended their romance after dating for two years, but assured fans that he is doing good.

"It's a lot to take. Ang daming nangyayari, ang daming sinasabi ng mga tao. Siguro I can officially say that that chapter of my life is over now," he said.

"To be honest with you, I can at least say that I really loved that person deeply. Yeah. And for me, I respect that person to today," he added.

The local star went on to share that has "had a lot of time to process everything and accept everything."

"'Di ba, 'pag mahal mo naman talaga ang isang tao, you wish them all the happiness in the world, and you want them to be happy and you want them to be loved as well?" Cuenca said.

When asked if he and Filomeno went through a bad split, he asserted that "there was no breakup."

Clarifying his statement, he explained, "Hindi wala na lang. Like I said, I love that person deeply. Hindi wala lang 'yun. That was incredibly important to me. But that chapter is over now, and I have to accept that."

Filomeno previously asked for privacy after she was being hounded with speculations linking her to Cebuano businessman Matthew Lhuillier amid breakup rumors with Cuenca.

"I've been reading and hearing a lot these past few days and I ask that my past relationship, my present life, and the Lhuillier family be left out of this issue," she urged.

"No further statements will be made at this time, and I kindly ask that people refrain from speculation or intrusions into my private affairs," she continued. "I may be a public figure, but I am not public property. I ask that my private life remain private."

Questions about Filomeno and Cuenca's relationship arose after social media users noticed that the two unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The two publicly confirmed their relationship in 2023.
