BIGBANG to stage comeback tour for 20th anniversary
BIGBANG is set to make an epic return this March.
YG Entertainment, in its announcement video on Wednesday, Mar. 4, confirmed that the K-pop boy group will hold a comeback tour for their 20th anniversary.
"Having worked together for so long, I am confident we will face no difficulties with the plan," YG Entertainment founder and executive producer Yang Hyun-suk said, as translated into English by Yonhap News Agency. "Together, we will do our very best to create a perfect and brilliant concert."
BIGBANG's remaining members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung are expected to join the tour.
G-Dragon, as reported by Yonhap News Agency, first hinted at their 20th anniversary comeback in his Seoul fan event.
"This year, BIGBANG will come back to coincide with our 20th debut anniversary. As a member, as well as a fan myself, I am looking forward to it, and so are the other members," he said.
Ahead of the tour, the group is set to perform at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California in April.
The group is currently on hiatus since the release of their single Still Life in April 2022.
YG Entertainment has likewise announced a comeback for their other groups, BABYMONSTER and TREASURE, and an upcoming debut of a new girl group.
BIGBANG originally debuted as a five-member group in August 2006. Initially composed of members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri, the boy group’s most popular songs include Fantastic Baby, BANG BANG BANG, and Loser.
Seungri announced his departure from the group and retirement from the entertainment industry in March 2019. In 2022, T.O.P parted ways with YG Entertainment after 16 years.
