Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev ran into a problem ahead of his match at the Miami Open when his bags went missing after flying with United Airlines.

Medvedev took to his X account to make a public plea to the airline after they had supposedly misplaced all of his bags en route to the Miami Open, which takes place from March 17 to March 29.

"Hi United… need a little help. Flew from [Palm Springs Airport] to Florida yesterday and none of my bags arrived. Kind of need them to play in the Miami Open ….can you help?" he wrote.

He later received a reply from the airlines, but the response appeared to have been generated by their AI chatbot, which Medvedev did not appreciate.

"Hi there, Daniil. Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your delayed baggage. We absolutely understand how important it is to have your belongings as quickly as possible. Please DM your delayed bag file reference number so that we can check for update," the message from United read.

"The amount of AI help has been overwhelming," Medvedev replied, punctuating his response with emojis of a person face-palming and shrugging.

In another update, Medvedev said that his bags have now been returned to him, but that there was still another issue that needed to be resolved.

"Can we please also make sure the people on my team get their bags?" he requested.

United has yet to issue a statement on this.

Medvedev is currently ranked as world no. 10 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals. He has has won 23 ATP Tour-level singles titles, including the 2021 US Open and 2020 ATP Finals.

Prior to the Miami Open, he participated at the Indian Wells Open where he reached the finals before being defeated by Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner.
