Dog rescued by good Samaritan in viral motorcycle accident in Pasig dies

The injured dog in a viral motorcycle accident in Pasig has died.

In a statement, Animales De Compania Veterinary Hospital confirmed the unfortunate news. 

"It is with heavy hearts that we share an update regarding the stray dog rescued by one of our staff and vet following a motorcycle accident," the hospital said. 

"Despite our best efforts to stabilize him, the internal bleeding and severity of the impact were too great for his body to overcome. While we are saddened by this loss, we are honored to have provided him with a dignified and compassionate presence in his final hours," they added.

The hospital also said that they have covered all the medical and aftercare expenses of the dog. The health facility also told donors to redirect their help to local rescuers. 

"Thank you for caring for him as much as we did. Rest well, little one," the statement concluded. 

A viral Facebook video posted by Jamws Nacionales showed the aftermath of an accident between a motorcycle taxi rider and a dog. The exact collision was not caught on camera, but the rider was seen flat on the ground, as onlookers reached out to help.

The dog, meanwhile, appeared to be whimpering and crawling. An individual in scrubs was then seen picking up the dog and rushing to a nearby veterinary hospital.

"Saludo ako sa isang staff ng pet hospital na malapit sa area," Nacionales wrote in his caption. "Kahit hindi niya kilala kung kanino 'yung aso, hindi siya nagdalawang isip tumulong. Agad niyang binuhat at dinala sa clinic nila 'yung kawaang aso para maagapan."

"Sa totoo lang, bihira na 'yung ganitong klaseng malasakit ngayon. Kaya sobrang nakakabilib," he added, hoping that the rider and dog were well.

Other users in the comment section also applauded the good Samaritan.

"Sana dumami pa sila po para sa mga aspin at puspin," one chimed in.

"Clearly an accident and walang may gusto. Kudos sa staff ng vet clinic. Animals need saving, too. Kasi to be honest, 'di lahat ng nasasagasaan ay narerescue [at] 'di lahat ng nakakabangga ay sumasagot ng pang gamot. Sana okay lang din po rider. Make sure lang po na observe speed limit kasi anytime po talaga may tatawid na di natin masabi," another added.
