LTO summons viral vlogger for filming self while driving
The Land Transportation Office issued a show-cause order against a vlogger who went viral for filming herself while driving.
In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the LTO said it summoned the content creator over a clip posted in the private Facebook group The VISOR Community.
The video shows the vlogger recording herself while driving a white Mazda Sedan with its roof retracted. The footage quickly went viral online.
The woman has been ordered to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division to submit a sworn statement and supporting documents to explain why she should not be charged with distracted driving, reckless driving, failure to carry compulsory registration, and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. Failure to do so may result in formal charges.
She has also been asked to surrender her driver's license, while the vehicle has been placed under alarm status. Her license will be suspended for 90 days pending investigation.
“Pagtitibayin ng LTO ang pagtiyak ng kaligtasan sa kalsada at pagpapatupad ng mga batas trapiko upang protektahan ang lahat ng motorista at pedestrian,” LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said.
