'The Glory' star Park Ji Ah dies at 52

Korean actress Park Ji Ah, known for her role in The Glory, passed away at the age of 52.

Her agency, Billions, announced that Park died on Sept. 30 after battling a cerebral infarction, or an ischemic stroke.

In The Glory, the late actress played supporting character Jung Mi-hee, the lead character's alcoholic mother who worked at a barbershop.

A wake will be held at Asan Medical Center, and her funeral is scheduled for Oct. 2 at 10 a.m.  

The agency expressed sorrow in the announcement.  

“Billions will forever remember the passion of the late Park Ji Ah,” the agency wrote. “We express our deepest condolences as she embarks on her final journey, and we pray for her peaceful rest.”

Park Ji Ah made her debut in the film industry through the 2002 film The Coast Guard. She's also known for starring in Epitaph (2007), Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018), and the original Netflix series The Glory (2022).

The Netflix K-Drama follows a woman named Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-Kyo) who, after surviving constant bullying and appalling physical abuse by a group of delinquents during high school, has now become a homeroom teacher at an elementary school. However, after discovering that the child of a former bully of hers is in her class, she decides to finally get her hands dirty and seeks revenge on the tormentors of her past.
