Heads up, commuters: You can now use GCash to pay for your EDSA Busway trip
Good news for commuters who prefer cashless transactions!
The Department of Transportation announced that GCash payment for the EDSA carousel has been launched at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange to give commuters a more convenient option in paying for their fares.
According to acting secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez, the move was made in an effort to "modernize the transport system."
It's in line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive to improve the daily experience of those who are using public transportation.
Commuters just have to open their GCash mobile app, click the “scan-to-pay” option, scan the QR code from the conductor, fill in the fare amount, and tap "pay."
According to Lopez, the cashless payment does not have an additional fee while the 20% discount for students, persons with disability, and seniors will still be in effect.
GCash for Business head Jong Layug assured the public that the payment option is not hackable as it "invests a lot" on the security of its users.
