More airlines now support biometric check-in at NAIA
Traveling through Ninoy Aquino International Airport just got easier.
Its private operator, New NAIA Infra Corp., has announced that additional airlines now support biometric check-in procedures at the NAIA Terminals 1, 2, and 3. This update will help speed up the check-in and boarding process.
Here are the participating airlines:
- Terminal 1: Philippine Airlines (international destinations, excluding Middle East and Japan routes), Asiana Airlines (Korean nationals and foreign passengers with no visa requirements)
- Terminal 2: AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines (all domestic destinations)
- Terminal 3: Cebu Pacific (all domestic and international destinations), AirAsia (all international destinations), United Airlines (foreign passengers with no visa requirements), Qatar Airways (all passengers), Air Canada (all passengers)
With the new biometric check-in, passengers on eligible flights only need to complete a quick facial scan. From there, they can print boarding passes and bag tags on their own, use self-service kiosks for luggage drops, and go through automated security lanes. Finally, facial recognition allows for seamless boarding at selected gates.
“These systems are already operational, and we are seeing more airlines come on board as integration is completed,” NNIC said. “As participation expands, more passengers will be able to move through check-in, security, and boarding more efficiently.”
NAIA also noted that travelers must scan their passports and complete their facial registration at self-check-in kiosks.
"This one-time setup allows you to use all automated lanes throughout your departure,” NAIA noted.
NAIA has seen improvements over the past year, including biometric e-gates, two food halls, lounges, and more.
This is part of the changes promised by the San Miguel-led consortium after it won the NAIA rehabilitation project worth P170 billion in 2024.
The corporation said that it would implement gradual changes, such as upgrading terminals and facilities, to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers. These include the passenger processing system, baggage handling, enhanced WiFi, and electrical and air conditioning, among others. NAIA also aims to increase the airport’s capacity to accommodate 35 to 62 million passengers annually.
