Angel Locsin calls out Robin Padilla over red-tagging silence, Quiboloy loyalty: 'Gising na'
Angel Locsin didn’t mince words when addressing her former co-star, Senator Robin Padilla, following his recent remark of being a "communist."
In a social media post published at 3 a.m. of July 16, Locsin shared a report on the Senate hearing where Padilla called himself a “communist.”
In the caption, she directly called out the actor-turned-politician, recalling the times Padilla would share stories about heading to the mountains to fight for the country—even mentioning an ex-girlfriend who once visited him there.
At least, honest ka ngayon, Kuya," she wrote.
However, Locsin questioned where Padilla’s loyalty and courage were when she herself was being red-tagged by high-ranking military officials in 2020.
Naghugas-kamay at pumikit sa katotohanan," she lamented.
Locsin went on to remind Padilla that the public voted him into office expecting him to be a brave champion for the marginalized, particularly the Muslim community. Instead, she pointed out what she saw as misplaced priorities.
Expressing her disappointment, Locsin compared the senator to the revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio.
Locsin ended message with a direct wake-up call to her former colleague: "Tama na, Kuya. Gising na. Hindi pa huli ang lahat."
During Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, Padilla questioned NBI Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc about an alleged "Operation Romanov," arguing the term represented a communist threat against anti-communist political families like the Marcoses and Dutertes. To support his theory, Padilla said he is a communist himself and pointed at the historical execution of the Russian imperial family by communists, suggesting the Dutertes face similar dangers due to their anti-insurgency work.
Locsin and Padilla starred in the GMA TV series Asian Treasures and the ABS-CBN sitcom Toda Max.
