Remember the old Mushroomburger branch in Tagaytay? For many Filipinos, the iconic restaurant was a staple field-trip destination where visitors learned about mushroom cultivation and tossed coins into the wishing well. However, that familiar stop along Km. 60, Aguinaldo Highway, has now closed after 47 years.

Facebook page Tagaytay Daily in a July 14 video showed the once-bustling red house empty, with its long tables vacant and chairs packed away. The mushroom farmhouses that once drew curious visitors also appeared abandoned.

Some social media users became sad and nostalgic about the news.

"Regardless, the old one is a home to countless memories of our past, even if they still exist, the memories, that smell, the ambience. It will never be the same. Long live the memories of old," said a social media user in a post about the old branch.

"Since 1980's di kumpleto pag bakasyon namin sa [M]endez sa mga kamag anak namin dyan kung hindi dadaan sa mushroom burger," wrote another.

Thankfully, Mushroomburger is not gone—it has simply found a new home.

The restaurant announced on July 9 that it had relocated to a new branch located just two minutes away from the old site.

“We’ve Moved to Our New Tagaytay Branch! Come discover our exciting new space—we’re thrilled to welcome you and serve you better than ever!” the company said.

The new branch sits in front of Taal Vista Hotel and features a two-story structure, a larger parking area, and an air-conditioned dining space designed like a modern fast-food restaurant. Menu prices remain the same.

According to Mushroomburger’s website, the original Tagaytay property had served as the company’s headquarters since 1978 and housed its famous mushroom farms.

On Nov. 1, 1980, its iconic mushroom burger was born with seven variants, including Mushroomburger Pinoy, Mushroomburger Royal, and Mushroomburger King.

Aside from Tagaytay, Mushroomburger also has a branch in Quezon Avenue.
