Mom found dead in Albania holiday rental with 2-year-old daughter unharmed beside her

A 25-year-old mother was discovered dead in bed by a cleaner at a vacation rental in Albania, while her 2-year-old daughter was found unharmed beside her.

Ferne King, who was from Scotland, was found when the cleaner arrived at the apartment in Durrës on Oct. 8, according to Albanian media. 

The cleaner alerted emergency services, and her child was placed under the care of local social services.

King had reportedly traveled to the coastal city for a short holiday with her daughter and planned to stay for three days.

Local reports said King may have suffered cardiac arrest, but her cause of death has yet to be confirmed. Authorities are awaiting toxicology test results and do not suspect foul play.

King's family paid tribute to her in a funeral announcement shared on Facebook, remembering her as a loving mother to her daughter, Sihana, as well as a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Her funeral will be held at Kirkcaldy Crematorium in Scotland on Nov. 6 at 10:15 a.m.
