Cebu Pacific to increase carry-on baggage allowance to 10kg starting Sept. 15

Are you an overpacker? Or maybe you just went a little overboard on the pasalubong (no shame though!)? Great news: Cebu Pacific has updated its carry-on luggage policy! Starting Tuesday, Sept. 15, you can bring up to 10kg in hand-carry baggage.

Social media users were the first to catch the news after screenshots of an announcement from a travel agency started circulating online. In the post, the budget airline revealed it is "updating its hand carry rules to help improve boarding efficiency and ensure a smoother travel experience for everyone." It said that starting Sept. 15, passengers on Cebu Pacific (5J) flights can pack up to 10kg in carry-on baggage, instead of the original 7kg allowance.

Cebu Pacific reps quickly confirmed the news, writing to an X user: "Please be advised that starting September 15, 2026, our hand-carry baggage allowance will be updated to 10 kg per passenger."

It clarified though in another reply that the new 10kg limit does not apply to Cebgo (DG) flights.

To avoid any headaches at the airport, the airline is urging everyone to double check the rules before heading to the airport.

"We encourage all guests to ensure their carry-on baggage complies with the applicable size and weight requirements for a smoother airport experience," they added. 

Every passenger with a confirmed seat, including kids and infants, can bring one hand-carry item—within the standard dimension limits of 56cm x 36cm x 23cm (22in x 14in x 9in)—for the overhead bin plus one personal item to tuck under the seat in front of them.

Passengers carrying bags that exceed the allowed piece count, dimensions, or weight limit will be charged a Gate Baggage Fee.
