Watch movies for P100 on Sept. 12 for the first Philippine National Cinema Day

Going to the cinema house just hits different, but with ticket prices getting pricier, a simple movie night can seriously drain your wallet. Luckily, the local film industry understands and is giving us a reason to pull up. This Saturday, clear your schedule for the inaugural Philippine National Cinema Day and catch movies for just P100!

The Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines—alongside the Film Academy of the Philippines, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, and the Metro Manila Film Festival through the MMDA—is dropping this once-a-year event. For one day only, participating theaters across the country are slashing admission fees to P100 for Regular 2D movies.

“This is more than a promotional event. It is a nationwide celebration of cinema and an invitation for Filipinos of all ages to experience the excitement, emotion, and community of watching movies on the big screen,” CEAP President Irene L. Jose said in a statement. 

CEAP Chairperson Karen Zabaljauregui, meanwhile, emphasized that the event aims to revive a cherished Filipino pastime.

“It has always been part of our entertainment culture for decades and decades. The Filipinos, at the very heart of it, still love cinema. We just want to give them, keep giving them reasons to come back,” she said.

Every movie currently showing is included in the promotion, whether local or international.

Tickets go on sale starting Thursay, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. and can be bought online, through mobile apps, via authorized ticketing outlets, or directly at participating box offices.

You can catch this promo at major theater chains, including Ayala Malls Cinemas, SM Cinema, Robinsons Movieworld, CityMall Cinema, Megaworld Cinemas, Cinema 2000, Parallax Inc. / Vista Cinemas, and FACI.

Because seats are limited by theater capacity, tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure to book in advance.
