Metro Manila Film Festival announces first set of official entries for 2026

The first batch of official entries for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival is out!

In their presentation held at GH Mall on July 2, the MMFF announced the first four official films in its 52nd edition, starting with 2nd Miracle in Cell No. 7, the sequel to the 2019 film Miracle in Cell No. 7

Aga Muhlach and Xia Vigor are set to reprise their roles—with Nuel Naval serving as director.

Also included in the list is Amir, which stars Dennis Trillo, Will Ashley, Glaiza De Castro, and Argus Aspiras. Zig Dulay will direct the film.

"As darkness engulfs their village, young Amir and his father, Ali, are thrust into a desperate fight for survival that will test their love, challenge their faith, and reveal the extraordinary strength found in family," its synopsis read, per GMA Pictures.

Of course, the film festival won't be complete without horror entries. Joining this year’s lineup is Haunted Carnival, a chilling new film that's led by John Arcilla, Julia Barretto, James Reid, Fyang Smith, RK Bagatsing, Ronnie Alonte, and Maricel Soriano. It will be directed by Joey De Guzman.

The last entry revealed was The Greatest Showdown, which marks the first time Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto will share the big screen. Jun Robles Lana will be the one to helm the film.

During the presentation, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Don Artes also announced that the price cap for MMFF 2026 films is set at P299. However, the prices may still go lower depending on the decision of movie theaters nationwide.

The 52nd MMFF will take place from December 2026 to January 2027.
