Aside from storing your credit and debit cards, Google Wallet has a new function up its sleeve: storing your movie and concert tickets!

Ticketing company Ticketnet announced that customers can now save their tickets on the digital wallet app, enabling easy access on Android devices without the need for printed copies.

Irene Jose, chief operating officer of Uniprom Inc., which operates Ticketnet, highlighted that this will lead to "easier access and more convenient ticketing for our customers."

"Now, there’s no need for physical tickets, just whip out your phone, have it scanned and you're ready to watch a movie, see your favorite artists perform in a concert, or even cheer for your sports teams," she said.

When accessing mobile tickets, users have the option to click on the "Add to Google Wallet" button to save them securely on the app.

Ticketnet was among Google Wallet's inaugural partners during its launch in the Philippines last November.

The app is primarily used to store credit or debit card information through the Google Pay feature. With this, you can make payments using a digital version of your card instead of the physical one.

Android phones with NFC chips will be able to use the tap-to-pay function in stores, restaurants, and other establishments. Payment cards from Google Wallet can also be used for online shopping.

Aside from Ticketnet, the app can also carry boarding passes from Philippine Airlines, AirAsia, Cathay Pacific, Jetstar, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Thai Airways, tickets from Trip.com and Ticket2me, IKEA loyalty cards, and Mang Inasal vouchers.

Additionally, you can tap to pay with the app at the MRT-3.
