LIST: Breast cancer awareness month events to check out this October
Looking for ways to show your support this October? From free educational forums to fundraising runs and community activities, local organizations and hospitals are coming together all month long for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
More than just bringing awareness and honoring our strong survivors, this month is a reminder of how early detection saves lives.
In 2022 alone, breast cancer made up nearly 1 in 3 new cancer cases among Filipino women—affecting over 33,000 lives.
To celebrate the survivors and help spread the word about early detection this month, here are some events to check out this month:
Oct. 25: The Pink Run: D'Feating Breast Cancer 2026
Get moving for a cause at The Pink Run: D'Feating Breast Cancer 2026, an event organized by the Philippine Society of General Surgeons to raise awareness about breast cancer and support breast health.
The run will take place on Oct. 25 at Bridgetowne, Pasig City, with participants able to choose from four categories: 10K, 5K, 3K, and 1.5K executive walk. Registration fees are P1,300 for the 10K, P1,000 for the 5K, P800 for the 3K, and P700 for the 1.5K executive walk.
The race will kick off in the morning, with the 10K starting at 6:30 a.m., the 5K at 6:45 a.m., the 3K at 7 a.m., and the executive walk at 7:15 a.m. Warm-ups will be held shortly before each category.
Participants in the running categories will receive a Pink Run shirt, race bib, and finisher's medal, while executive walk participants will receive a Pink Run shirt and race bib. Top finishers in each running category, for both male and female participants, will also receive prizes, while fun-run participants can join the event's raffle.
Aside from the run, the event will also offer free clinical breast consultations with certified PSGS surgeons, giving participants an opportunity to seek professional guidance about breast health.

Oct.3: Pink Cancer Chat 2026
The Philippine Society of Medical Oncology and the Medical Oncology Group–Cebu is hosting Pink Cancer Chat 2026, a free event focused on the wellness, well-being, resilience, and quality of life of breast cancer survivors.
The event will be held on Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon at Oakridge Studio, 12th Floor, OITC 3 Building, Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City.
Registration is free, with attendees asked to reserve their spot here or by scanning the QR code provided by PSMO.
St. Luke's Medical Center events
St. Luke's Medical Center is marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month with activities focused on early detection and breast cancer education.
On Oct. 8, the hospital will offer free breast examinations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Outpatient Department, Basement 1 of St. Luke's Medical Center–Global City. The hospital will also hold a breast cancer lay forum at 2 p.m., followed by a pink lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at the hospital's main driveway.

Asian Hospital and Medical Center events
Asian Hospital and Medical Center is also joining Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a series of activities under its “Stronger in Pink: Be BOLD, Be PINK, Be SCREENED” campaign.
The hospital's lineup includes a painting exhibit from Oct. 1 to 11, a Breast 101 lecture on Oct. 4, and a kickoff activity on Oct. 5. On Oct. 8, it will hold a pink lighting and lay forum from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Asian Cancer Institute Grounds.
Other activities include a lay forum with clinical breast examination on Oct. 10, a postgraduate nursing course on Oct. 17, and a “Dancercise? Zumba for Clinical Breast Exam” activity on Oct. 23 at Molito Lifestyle Center in Muntinlupa City.

University of the Philippines Manila events
The University of the Philippines Manila is hosting a month-long lineup of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities at the UP-PGH Cancer Institute Lobby.
The program includes a thanksgiving mass and opening activities on Oct. 1, followed by a lay forum and breast cancer quiz bee on Oct. 15. On Oct. 22, participants can join “Breast Strokes: SUSOmba Tayo,” a free Zumba session, and an ecobag-painting activity.
The month-long program will wrap up on Oct. 29 with testimony sharing and a talent show.
