Kris Aquino to undergo first of two surgeries
Kris Aquino revealed that she is set to undergo the first of two surgical procedures for an undisclosed illness.
On her Instagram account, the actress posted a black and white picture of a port-a-cath—a device used to draw blood and give treatments—implanted in her body.
In the caption, she detailed that her doctors and loved ones questioned why the "strangest mysterious medical mishaps" that were "not caused by man or by the machine implanted very near my heart" have been happening to her.
"Alam ko ang kulit ko na but at 9:00 a.m. [on September 10], I will be brought down for the first of two surgical procedures," Kris said.
"Please pray for my surgeons and cardio-interventionists, all the residents and fellows, all the nurses and all the staff in the operating room," she implored.
She expressed her gratitude to the Holy Spirit and Mama Mary for "keeping my survival instinct sharp."
Kris went on to give an update on what has been happening in her life since her confinement and revealed that a person who once "broke her heart" visited her unexpectedly and offered an apology.
"Someone I loved and broke my heart because he left me when my health issues were getting worse. I don’t know how he knew where to find me, but about 10 days ago, he surprised me. He said he wanted to see how I was, and a few days after, via text, he apologized several times," she said.
"We know why we aren’t meant for each other because mine is a lifelong battle; autoimmune has no cure, his fulfillment comes from working with communities and going all over the Philippines," she added.
However, Kris said that God "has a plan" as she recently got to know a doctor who she described as "brilliant, brave, and very reliable."
"Plus, he has good skin and great hair. He brings knowledge and genuine wisdom, plus he shares the same Chinese Astrological sign as my dad and mom," she shared.
"I shared my personal life, but with no name,s because that’s how it will be. Please pray for all those doing their best to keep Bimb and Kuya Josh’s mama strong enough to start her physical therapy," she ended.
Kris previously shared that her doctors found something "alarming" in her blood panel results in late August, suggesting that she get an ultrasound done, undergo three more tests, and see three different specialists.
She has been diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases. Last July 20, she said she already had 11 of them after two new ones were found.
She's also dealing with fibromyalgia, which triggers pain and tenderness throughout the body; polymyositis, an inflammatory disease that leads to muscle weakness; and mixed connective tissue disease, which combines disorders such as lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis.
She went to the United States in June 2022 to undergo treatment and returned to the Philippines in September 2024.
