Donny Pangilinan, Belle Mariano share 'Tayo Sa Wakas' will be their last project together for now
Is DonBelle ready for a new chapter?
On Bianca Gonzalez's Paano Ba 'To podcast, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano opened up about their journey as a love team and confirmed that their upcoming film Tayo Sa Wakas will be their last for now.
"We’ve done so many projects throughout the years. [Belle and I] decided that for this specific project, it will be our last DonBelle project for now," Donny said.
"It was a mutual decision, and that's why this project required so much growth for him and [me]. And the time apart I feel like would allow us to grow, actually find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people," Belle chimed in.
The two stars candidly shared they felt scared about the move, but know that it's the right step for the both of them.
"Siguro, we're just at a point where we're choosing to support each other through this and each other's growth," Donny shared, adding that they're currently in the middle of shooting Tayo Sa Wakas.
"'Di namin alam when's the next time we'll be able to shoot a specific type of scene again [...] I'm just glad that we get to go through this together because [we've] been working together for a while now."
The pair first appeared together in He's Into Her in 2021.
Despite the actors gearing up for their next chapters independently, they reassured their fans of one thing: "I don't think DonBelle is gonna disappear," Donny said.
"That's something that we really built. And our supporters mean the world to us, and we would do anything for them talaga," the 28-year-old actor shared. "But this is a decision we've made because we really feel that it's also time. More than just being in a love team, we're also actors. This is something that will help us as we navigate through our next decisions in life with what projects we want to take and how we want to further level up our craft."
"Whether that's working with each other or not working with each other, we're really supportive of each other, and this is the best step to growth, and that's why we really decided on doing it," Belle continued, adding that this wasn't an overnight decision.
They then thanked their supporters, whom they described as "family."
The actors also noted that while there are benefits to being in a love team, there are some downsides to the experience.
"Sometimes we forget that we're human. Pero, we're really grateful for the journey, for the people who supported us. Pero, sometimes it gets too much to a fault." Belle said.
"If it comes to a point you're being dictated by other people with like what actions you're going to do, and like parang sinasabihan... parang they're already opposing their views and what should be done," Donny shared.
Donny and Belle have worked on several projects together, including Love is Color Blind, An Inconvenient Love, Can't Buy Me Love, How to Spot a Red Flag, and more.
Tayo Sa Wakas, directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, is slated for a May 27 release. (with reports from Jericho Quito)
