QC to hold commitment ceremony for LGBTQ+ couples
Love wins in Quezon City as the local government is set to hold its annual commitment ceremony for LGBTQ+ couples this February.
Couples interested in joining the ceremonies may reach out to the QC Gender and Development Office to register.
They must submit present requirements including an application form and QCitizen ID. Queer partners must be 18 years old and above and have one witness for the event.
Deadline for registration is on Feb. 5, 2025.
The ceremony will be held on Feb. 14 at the MICE Center in the Quezon City Hall compound, Jhelai Pasco, a member of the QC Pride Council Technical Working Group and Officer-in-Charge of Pride Council Secretariat, told PhilSTAR L!fe.
QC has held three other commitment ceremonies for queer couples in the previous years. In 2022, a total of 222 LGBTQ+ pairs took part in the love-filled affair.
Last year's event saw 205 queer partners participating in the ceremonies at the QCX Garden in the Quezon Memorial Circle.
To get a QCitizen ID, one must register and log in to QC e-services, choose and click ID eApplication and fill out the form.
In 2024, Pasco said that they gave consideration to couples whose partner is not a QC resident.
In June 2023, QC launched the country's first "Right to Care Card" for LGBTQ+ couples, an initiative allowing resident queer couples to make medical decisions for their partners.
The LGU is also holding a Kasalang Bayan next month.
