Heads up: Here's the EDSA rehab schedule from Dec. 28 to Jan. 5
The Department of Public Works and Highways has released the repair schedule for the roads along EDSA from Dec. 28 to Jan. 5.
In their social media accounts, the government agency shared the timetable of rehabilitation works covering various sections of the major thoroughfare. The repair works will follow a 24 hour-schedule until 5:00 a.m. on Jan. 5.
"Motorists are advised to take precautions and use alternative routes for safety and convenience," they said.
For the concrete reblocking works, the schedule is as follows:
Southbound (Dec. 28 to Jan. 5)
- EDSA corner Taft Avenue hanggang FB Harrison
- Near HomeExpo Building Depot hanggang (Outer lane) hanggang P. Celle Street
- Along Ayala Underpass Exit hanggang San Lorenzo Village
Northbound (Dec. 28 to Jan. 5)
- Roxas Boulevard Heritage Hotel hanggang hanggang Sgt. Mariano
- Park Avenue hanggang EDSA Orense (Inner lane)
- Select Portions along EDSA mula Orense hanggang Shell McKinley
For the asphalt overlay, the schedule is as follows:
Northbound
- Dec. 28 to Jan. 5: Tramo hanggang E. Rodriguez (Inner lane to Outer lane)
- Dec. 29 to Jan. 5: E. Rodriguez hanggang Kalayaan Avenue (Inner lane to Outer lane)
- Dec. 31 to Jan. 5: Roxas Boulevard hanggang FB Harrison (Inner lane to Outer lane)
- Jan. 1 to Jan. 5: FB Harrison hanggang Tramo Bus Station (Inner lane)
- Jan. 2 to Jan. 5: Ayala Underpass hanggang Urdaneta Subdivision (Inner lane to Outer lane)
Southbound
- Dec. 30 to Jan. 5: Loring Street hanggang Roxas Boulevard (Inner lane to Outer lane)
- Jan. 1 to Jan. 5: Mula Ayala Underpass hanggang Tramo Bus Station (Inner lane)
- Jan. 3 to Jan. 5: Palm Drive hanggang Ayala Underpass (Inner lane to Outer lane)
The delayed EDSA rehabilitation project began on Dec. 24 and is expected to be completed in eight months. It previously had a two-year timeframe.
It will be rolled out in two phases, with the first four months covering Roxas Boulevard to Orense, and the next four for the rest of EDSA.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes said that during the rehabilitation, there will be no odd-even number coding scheme as previously proposed.
Other traffic mitigation proposals, like free skyway tolls, will no longer be implemented during the road works.
