Alex Eala climbs to career-high WTA Top 40
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala is now World No. 40 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings.
According to the latest data on the WTA website, Eala has once again set a new career high after a quarterfinal singles finish and a semifinal doubles finish at the WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open. She also set a record high of No. 99 in the Doubles rankings.
This came after Eala fell to World No. 11 Ekaterina Alexandrova in her singles run, while she and Indonesian partner Janice Tjen bowed out of the doubles competition against Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia and Olivia Nicholls of Great Britain last week.
The 20-year-old athlete has been busy since last year with tournaments, including her impressive performances at the US Open, Guadalajara 125 Open, Jingshan Open, and the historic gold medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.
On Feb. 2, Eala moved to No. 45 in the WTA rankings.
She is set to compete at the WTA 1000 Qatar Open in Doha. In the first round, she will play against Tereza Valentova.
