‘Harry Potter’ actor Jessie Cave says joining OnlyFans was 'embarrassing' but 'saved’ her financially
Jessie Cave, best known for playing Lavender Brown in three Harry Potter films, recently addressed the financial struggles that led her to join OnlyFans.
Speaking on the U.K. talk show This Morning, Cave pushed back against the common misconception that her early acting career made her financially secure. Her role in the franchise began nearly 20 years ago in 2009's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, a part she describes as "small-ish."
Now she has turned to OnlyFans to get out of debt and fund her independent artistic work, which primarily consists of puppet-based one-woman shows.
Cave doesn't post provocative content on the platform, but instead posts “the best quality hair sounds” and “very sensual stuff,” appealing to users with hair fetishes.
“My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc.” Cave explained at that time. “My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.”
She admitted to This Morning that "it was embarrassing because on a certain level, I would have really liked to get a job. But you know what it’s like, you have kids. It costs so much for childcare… [OnlyFans] really has saved me,” she said.
However, the move quickly sparked controversy among event organizers. Shortly after launching her account, a Harry Potter fan convention barred the former actress from attending, citing the platform's general association with adult content.
Cave called the organizers' reasoning "baffling," pointing out the double standard applied to actors who perform explicit scenes on screen.
Despite the ban, Cave remains unfazed about stepping away from the convention circuit after 15 years.
“I am not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions,” Cave added. “There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”
Cave first debuted in 2008 in the drama Summerhill. Her other acting credits include roles in Black Mirror, Industry, and Great Expectations.
